SAM Office
Calculate totals and use formulas in SAM Count
Write a formula, total a range and use the Formulas tab to find functions.
This guide is based on application documentation. Its full procedure has not yet been tested directly; some details may vary by operating system and version.
Step by step
- Enter 1200, 1500, 1400 and 1800 in B2:B5 of a test sheet. Keep B6 empty for the total.
- Select B6, type =SUM(B2:B5) and press Enter. B6 shows 5900; selecting B6 again shows the formula in the formula bar.
- Change B2 from 1200 to 1300 and confirm the edit. With automatic calculation enabled, the total updates to 6000.
- To calculate a difference, enter a cost in C2, select D2 and type =B2-C2. Press Enter to show revenue minus cost for that row.
- Open the Formulas tab and choose Function to open the Function Wizard. Search for a function, review its arguments and select the cells it should use.
- Check the wizard's result and confirm the formula. If a formula shows an error, reopen it in the formula bar or wizard and check the cell references and required arguments.
- Save the workbook. Review the totals against a few manual calculations before relying on them.
Inside the application
Before you continue
Start a formula with =. A colon defines a continuous range: B2:B5 includes B2, B3, B4 and B5.
Function names and argument separators can follow your application settings. The Function Wizard helps insert the correct syntax.
If totals do not update, use Recalculate in the Formulas tab and check the referenced cells.
