SAM Office
Create your first spreadsheet in SAM Count
Enter a small table, move between cells and save a workbook in SAM Count.
This guide is based on application documentation. Its full procedure has not yet been tested directly; some details may vary by operating system and version.
Step by step
- Open SAM Count, or use File > New in SAM Office and choose a spreadsheet. A workbook opens with a grid of cells and sheet tabs at the bottom.
- Click cell A1 and type Month. Press Tab to move to B1 and type Revenue; press Tab again and type Costs in C1. Column letters and row numbers identify each cell.
- Enter Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr in A2:A5. Enter 1200, 1500, 1400 and 1800 in B2:B5, then 800, 900, 850 and 1000 in C2:C5. Press Enter to confirm each cell.
- Select a cell to see its content in the formula bar above the grid. Double-click the cell, or edit the formula bar, to correct a value; press Enter to keep the change.
- Drag across A1:C1 to select the heading row. In Home, choose Bold so the headings stand out from the figures.
- Choose File > Save As, enter a workbook name and choose the file type you need, such as ODF Spreadsheet (.ods) or an .xlsx format. Save the file.
- Check that the workbook title shows the saved name and that all four months and both numeric columns are present. Use Save again after further changes.
Inside the application
Before you continue
A cell address such as B3 means column B, row 3; A1:C5 means the rectangular range from A1 to C5.
Keep one kind of information in each column and use one heading row. This makes sorting, filtering and chart creation easier.
On a narrow window, use the ribbon's tab selector and group overflow controls to reach commands that do not fit.
