Use headings and paragraph styles in SAM Write

2 min readLast reviewed: 5 November 2026Reference — live verification pending

Apply consistent heading and body styles instead of formatting every paragraph separately.

This guide is based on application documentation. Its full procedure has not yet been tested directly; some details may vary by operating system and version.

Step by step

  1. Open a SAM Write document with a title, a section heading and body text.
  2. Click inside the section-heading paragraph. You do not need to select the entire paragraph to apply a paragraph style.
  3. Open Home and choose an appropriate heading style in Styles. Use the styles command to open the full Styles panel if the gallery does not show the style you need.
  4. Click inside a body paragraph and choose the normal body style. Repeat for the other headings and paragraphs.
  5. Check the hierarchy and spacing throughout the document, then save the editable file.

Use the same style for headings at the same level.

If a style does not change what you expect, check for direct formatting already applied to the text.
